Use case · Disputes

When the customer says it wasn't done.

Warranty callbacks. Chargebacks. The GC who "never saw" the work. Every crew eventually stands in an argument about a job that's already closed — and whoever has the better record usually walks out of it. FieldLog makes sure that's you.

"That leak came back. You never actually fixed it."

Six months later, from a customer whose water heater has been touched by two other companies since. Your memory of the job is gone. Your tech who did it quit in October.

"I'm disputing the charge. Nobody ever showed up."

The chargeback notice gives you ten days to respond with evidence. An invoice isn't evidence that work happened — it's evidence that you billed.

"Prove your guys didn't cause that damage."

The scratch on the hardwood, the ding in the panel, the crack that "wasn't there before." It was there before. You just can't show it.

The record

What your side of the argument looks like.

  • The photo, stamped. Time and date burned into the image — not metadata that gets stripped when it's forwarded. The location is recorded on the report, so a coordinate never rides along in a picture your customer sends on.
  • A name on the work. Which tech, at which address, at which minute. "One of my guys" becomes D. Okafor, 9:14 AM.
  • The write-up from the day. What was found, what was done, what was tested — written when it happened, not reconstructed for the argument.
  • The filed line. Who filed the report, when, from where. The job closed on the record, on site.
  • Sent that day. The customer received this report in August. Hard to claim in March that nothing happened.
In practice

Most disputes end at the PDF.

Not because anyone threatens anything — because one side has a dated, located, named record and the other side has a recollection.

The warranty callback

Search the address, open the report, forward it. The photo of the test that passed is usually the whole conversation.

The chargeback

Card processors ask for evidence the service was performed. A stamped, dated report with the customer's address on it is exactly the kind of documentation they mean.

The damage claim

Your day-one photos show the floor before your drop cloths did. Pre-existing conditions stop being your word against theirs.

The "nobody showed up"

GPS on the photo puts your tech at that address at that time. The visit happened, and the record says where and when.

The ex-employee's jobs

The tech left; his reports didn't. Every job he filed is still searchable, readable, and yours.

The one that escalates anyway

If it does go further, you hand over a clean, contemporaneous record instead of digging through a camera roll from eight months ago.

Straight talk: FieldLog is a record, not a legal outcome. No app guarantees how a dispute ends. What it guarantees is that when one starts, your side of it is already written, stamped, and filed.

The record only exists if you were keeping it.

Start free, file your next five jobs, and you'll have five reports you didn't have last week. The dispute you can't predict is the one this covers.
